Troubleshoot shortened battery life on your LG G Flex2

This article helps you troubleshoot battery life issues on your LG G Flex2

You may have battery issues if:

  • Your LG G Flex2® consistently displays a low charge
  • The battery drains quickly

Try each of these steps to see if it helps your charge last longer.

  1. In Boost Zone, learn how your current power settings affect battery life.

    1. From the home screen, tap Boost Zone.
    2. Swipe to the left to open Device Diagnostics.
    3. Tap Power Usage.
      • Power Usage Overview: Displays your current power usage level.
      • Power Usage Details: Shows your power usage over time and which features use your battery the most.
        • Power Usage Chart: Displays your power usage over time.
        • Battery Usage: Shows battery history and power usage of each app.
        • Current Power Settings: Shows settings that can affect battery life. Tap an item to change the setting.
        • Select Power Mode: Helps change settings to extend battery life.
      • Learn More: Provides more information on battery life.
  2. Change the power settings to Low Power.

    1. From within Boost Zone, swipe to the left to open Device Diagnostics.
    2. Tap Power Usage.
    3. Tap Select Power Mode.
    4. Tap Apply.

      Note: If location services are enabled, they must be disabled manually. On the Select Power Mode prompt, tap the message, tap the Location switch to OFF and tap the Back key to return to Boost Zone.

  3. Close or uninstall applications.

    • Some apps run in the background when you are not using them.
    • Also, some apps consume more energy than others.
    • Some apps come preloaded on your phone and you can't uninstall them.
    1. In Boost Zone, swipe to the left to open Device Diagnostics.
    2. Tap Storage.
    3. Under Storage Details, tap App Storage.
    4. Tap an application you want to close or uninstall.
      • Close (turn off) an application: Tap Force stop.
      • Uninstall (remove from phone) an application: Tap Uninstall then tap OK.
  4. Verify that your LG G Flex2 is running the most recent software.

    1. In Boost Zone, swipe to the left to open Device Diagnostics.
    2. Swipe to the left to open Device Diagnostics.
    3. Tap System Updates.
    4. Tap Device Software.
    5. Tap CHECK FOR UPDATE.
      • If an update is available, follow the prompts to install.
  5. Safely remove your SD card.

    1. From the home screen, swipe down the Notification bar.
    2. Tap the Settings icon.
    3. From the General tab, scroll to and tap Storage.
    4. Scroll to and tap Unmount SD card.
    5. Remove the SD card.
  6. Perform a soft reset.

    A soft reset restarts your phone and does not erase any of your content or data.

    1. Press and hold the Power and the Volume down keys.
    2. Release both keys as soon as the device restarts.
  7. Verify that your charger is working properly.

    Note: You risk severe damage to your phone if the charger isn't the same voltage, amps, and plug type as your original charger. You can purchase compatible chargers on boostmobile.com.

    1. Connect your phone to your charger.
    2. From within Boost Zone, swipe to the left to open Device Diagnostics.
    3. Tap Battery Status.
    4. Verify that the battery status is Charging.
