Troubleshoot charging issues on your Kyocera Hydro Edge

This article helps troubleshoot charging issues on your Kyocera Hydro Edge.

You may have charging issues if your Kyocera Hydro Edge™

  • Doesn't charge
  • Charges slowly

Try each of these steps if your phone has charging issues.

  1. Verify that your phone, charging port, and battery contacts are not damaged.

    1. Carefully inspect your phone to be sure it's not overheating, swollen or damaged.
    2. Carefully inspect your phone's charging port and remove any debris.
    3. Remove the battery.
    4. Carefully inspect and clean the gold contacts using a cotton swab or dry soft cloth.

    Caution: If your phone is damaged, do not complete the remaining steps in this guide. Please contact Boost Customer Care.

  2. Verify that your Kyocera Hydro Edge can power on.

    1. Turn your phone on.
  3. Verify that your charger is working.

    Note: You risk severe damage to your phone if the charger isn't the same voltage, amps, and plug type as your original charger. You can purchase compatible chargers on www.boostmobile.com.

    1. Connect your phone to your charger.
    2. From within Boost Zone, swipe to the left to open Device Diagnostics.
    3. Tap Battery Status.
    4. Verify that the battery status is Charging.
  4. Verify that your Kyocera Hydro Edge is running the most recent software.

    1. In Boost Zone, swipe to the left to open Device Diagnostics.
    2. Tap System Updates.
    3. Tap Device Software.
    4. Tap Check now.
      • If an update is available, follow the prompts to install.
  5. Safely remove your SD card.

    1. From the home screen, tap the Menu key.
    2. Tap System settings.
    3. Scroll to and tap Storage.
    4. Scroll to and tap Unmount SD card.
    5. Tap OK.
    6. Turn your phone off.
    7. Remove the battery.
    8. Remove the SD card.
    9. Reinsert the battery.
    10. Turn your phone back on.
