Initial Sign In and First Use
  1. Review the TalkBack voice navigation feature and tap the preferred option.

  2. Tap to select the preferred language and tap Next.

  3. To connect to a Wi-Fi network, tap the preferred network. If required, enter the network Password and tap Connect.

    Tap Next to continue the initial setup without connecting to a Wi-Fi network.

    Note: If prompted, tap Skip anyway.

  4. The Hands Free Activation process will begin automatically.

    Once the Hands Free Activation is complete, tap OK.

  5. The device will update the PRL.

    Once the update is complete, tap OK.

    The device will restart.

  6. When the device restarts, tap Next to continue.

  7. The Boost pack will download and install. If prompted, tap the preferred option for Allow Google to regularly check device activity, then wait for the installation to finish.

    Once the installation is completed, tap OK.

    Note: This installation could occur at any point of the Initial setup.

  8. Google accounts can be transferred from another NFC capable device during the Initial Setup.

    Follow the steps to migrate accounts as preferred, otherwise, tap SKIP.

    Note: If the device has been abnormally reset, the Device Protection feature will display and this screen will be replaced with a Verify your account screen. If this happens, you must enter the Google account and password that were previously configured on the device in order to continue the set up.

  9. A Google account is required to access a variety of Google services or to purchase and download content from the Play Store.

    To skip this step, tap SKIP.

    To create a new Google account, tap Or create a new account.

    To log in to an existing Google account, enter the email address, then tap NEXT.

    Note: A Gmail address is considered a Google account.

  10. Enter the account Password, then tap NEXT.

    Note: Adding a Google account will automatically enable Device Protection. Device Protection uses your Google account to prevent others from activating your device if it's ever lost or stolen.

  11. Tap ACCEPT.

  12. If Get your apps & data prompts, tap the preferred backup by tapping the Restore from this backup field.

    Tap the Also include field to select the apps to be restored.

    To set up as a brand new device, tap the Restore from this backup field to choose Set up as new device, then tap DONE.

    Once finished, tap NEXT.

  13. To protect your phone's data, tap SET SCREEN LOCK NOW and follow the prompts to set up a Pattern, PIN or Password.

    To skip this step, tap SKIP.

    Note: You will be required to enter your Screen lock Pattern, PIN or Password prior to starting a factory reset of the device.

  14. Tap SKIP ANYWAY to confirm.

  15. Read the Google services message and tap to set the preferred options.

    Scroll down and tap NEXT.

  16. On the Useful settings screen, enter a phone name and lost phone contact number, then tap Next.

  17. To set up a Knock Code, tap Set knock code and follow the instructions.

    Otherwise, tap Skip.

  18. Tap to choose the preferred Home touch button combination, then tap Next.

  19. Tap Done.

  20. The device will check for Firmware updates.

    If an update is available, follow the prompts to download and install the update.

    Otherwise, tap OK.

  21. Review the Connections Optimizer message, then tap I Agree.

    Note: It may take a few seconds to display this screen.

    If Smart Contacts prompts, swipe left through the welcome messages, then tap I don't want to use this. Tap YES, DISABLE, and then tap OK.

  22. The device is now set up and ready to use.
