Show Me How

Initial set up and first use
  1. To change the default language setting, swipe English up or down to select the preferred option.

    To view and enable the device accessibility options, tap ACCESSIBILITY.

    When finished, tap START.

  2. To connect to a Wi-Fi network, tap the network name, enter the password if prompted, and tap CONNECT.

    When finished, or to continue without connecting to a Wi-Fi network, tap NEXT.

    Note: If prompted, tap SKIP ANYWAY.

    If the device was reset with Device Protection enabled, a Wi-Fi connection may be required to continue and complete the Google account authentication.

  3. Review the End User License Agreement.

    Read the Diagnostic data message and tap to check or uncheck it, as preferred.

    When finished, tap NEXT.

  4. Review terms and conditions, then tap AGREE.

    Note: If the Hands Free Activation, PRL and Firmware updates prompt, tap OK. The device will restart.

  5. A Google account is required to access a variety of Google services or to purchase and download content from the Play Store.

    To create a new Google account, tap Or create a new account.

    To log in to an existing Google account, enter the email address, then tap NEXT.

    Note: A Gmail account is considered a Google account. If a factory reset was performed with Device Protection enabled, the Google account credentials will be required to continue and complete the Initial Setup.

  6. Enter the account Password, then tap NEXT.

    Note: Adding a Google account will automatically enable Device Protection. Device Protection uses your Google account to prevent others from activating your device if it's ever lost or stolen.

  7. Review the Google Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then tap ACCEPT.

  8. Tap to set the Google services options as preferred, then tap NEXT.

  9. To protect your phone's data, tap to set Protect this device if needed, then tap NEXT.

    To skip this step, tap to unset Protect this device, then tap SKIP.

    Note: You will be required to enter your Screen lock type prior to starting a factory reset of the device.

  10. Tap to select a screen lock option.

    Note:The following steps will vary depending on the screen lock chosen.

  11. Tap to select a Secure startup option, then tap NEXT.

  12. Enter the chosen screen lock, then tap Continue.

  13. Re-enter the screen lock to confirm, then tap OK.

  14. Tap to set the Notifications options as needed, then tap NEXT.

  15. To restore data from a previous device backup, tap the preferred backup from the device list, then follow the prompts.

    To continue without restoring a previous backup, scroll to and tap Don't restore.

  16. A Samsung account allows access to Samsung services.

    Enter your Samsung account ID and Password, then tap SIGN IN to sign into an existing Samsung account.

    Tap CREATE WITH GOOGLE ID to create a Samsung account using an existing Google account.

    Tap CREATE ACCOUNT to create a new Samsung account.

    Scroll to and tap SKIP to skip this step.

  17. Tap SKIP to confirm.

  18. Tap to set the options for Customize your device, then tap FINISH.

  19. The device is now set up and ready for use.

    Note: If prompted to Copy content from old device, tap an option.

    If an ID Pack prompt appears, wait for the installation, then tap OK.
