Initial Sign In and First Use
  1. To change the default language setting, swipe English up or down to select the preferred option.

    When finished, tap START.

  2. To connect to a Wi-Fi network, tap the network name, enter the password if prompted, and tap CONNECT.

    When finished, or to continue without connecting to a Wi-Fi network, tap NEXT, then tap SKIP ANYWAY.

    Note: If the device was reset with Device Protection enabled, a Wi-Fi connection may be required to continue and complete the Google account authentication.

  3. Review the End User License Agreement.

    Read the Diagnostic data message and tap to check or uncheck it, as preferred.

    When finished, tap NEXT.

  4. Review terms and conditions, then tap AGREE.

  5. The device may perform Hands Free Activation, and update the PRL and Firmware.

    If needed, tap OK for each prompt.

    The device will restart.

  6. If you are switching from another compatible Android device, you can transfer your accounts, apps, and other data.

    To transfer data from another device, tap to select Copy your Google accounts, apps, and data from your other device, tap NEXT, and follow the prompts to complete the transfer.

    To skip this step, tap to select No thanks, then tap NEXT.

  7. A Google account is required to access a variety of Google services or to purchase and download content from the Play Store.

    To create a new Google account, tap Or create a new account.

    To log in to an existing Google account, enter the email address, then tap NEXT.

    Note: If a factory reset was performed with Device Protection enabled, the Google account credentials will be required to continue and complete the Initial Setup.

  8. Enter the account Password, then tap NEXT.

    Note: Adding a Google account will automatically enable Device Protection. Device Protection uses your Google account to prevent others from activating your device if it's ever lost or stolen.

  9. Review the Google Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then tap ACCEPT to continue.

  10. Tap to set the preferred Google services options, then tap NEXT.

    Note: If NEXT is not available, scroll down to the bottom of the page.

  11. To add another email account, tap to select Personal (POP/IMAP), then tap NEXT.

    To skip this step, tap to select Not now, then tap NEXT.

  12. To protect your phone's data, ensure that Protect this device is selected, then tap NEXT.

    Note: To skip this step, tap to uncheck Protect this device, then tap SKIP, and SKIP ANYWAY to confirm.

  13. Tap the preferred screen lock type.

  14. Follow the prompts to configure your screen lock.

    Note: The steps will vary depending on the selected screen lock type.

  15. Tap to select the preferred lock screen notification setting, then tap NEXT.

  16. To restore data that has been backed up to your Google account online, tap the device, tap to select the restore options as needed, then tap RESTORE.

    To skip this step, scroll to and tap Don't restore.

  17. A Samsung account allows access to Samsung services.

    Tap SIGN IN to sign into an existing Samsung account.

    Tap CREATE ACCOUNT to create a new Samsung account.

    To skip this step, scroll to and tap SKIP.

  18. Easy mode is a simplified Home screen layout and larger text and icons.

    To enable Easy mode, tap the Easy mode switch to ON, then tap FINISH.

    To leave the phone in normal mode, ensure the Easy mode switch is OFF, then tap FINISH.

  19. The device is now set up and ready for use.

    Note: The device will download and install an ID Pack. If prompted, tap OK.

    If prompted to Copy content from old device, tap the preferred option.
