Show Me How

Initial set up and first use
  1. To view and enable the device accessibility options, tap Accessibility settings.

    When finished, tap NEXT.

    Note: If prompted to Allow Google to regularly check device activity, tap the preferred option.

  2. Tap the default language option, then tap NEXT.

  3. To connect your device to a Wi-Fi network, ensure Use Wi-Fi is ON and tap your Wi-Fi network name. If needed, enter the Wi-Fi password, tap CONNECT, then tap NEXT.

    If a Wi-Fi connection is not available, tap NEXT.

    Note: If prompted, tap SKIP ANYWAY.

  4. To copy your current setup from an existing Android device, tap to select Keep your apps & data, tap NEXT, then follow the prompts.

    To skip this step, tap Set up as new.

    Note: If a reset was performed with Device Protection enabled, entering the Google account credentials will be required to continue.

  5. A Google account is required to access a variety of Google services or to purchase and download content from the Play Store.

    To create a new Google account, tap Or create a new account.

    To log in to an existing Google account, enter the email address, then tap NEXT.

    Note: Adding a Google account will automatically enable Device Protection. Device Protection uses your Google account to prevent others from activating your device if it's ever lost or stolen.

  6. Enter your Password and tap NEXT.

  7. Review the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then tap ACCEPT.

  8. Review the selected Google Services, then tap NEXT.

  9. Tap to select a screen lock type.

    Note: While this guide shows how to set a PIN, the basic process is the same for all of the screen lock options. 

  10. Enter the PIN number, then tap NEXT.

  11. Enter the PIN number one more time, then tap OK.

  12. Review the EULA (End-User License Agreement), tap to check I agree, then tap DONE.

  13. Tap DONE.

  14. The device will check for Firmware Updates.

    If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to install the update. Otherwise, tap OK.

    Note: If Set up from old device prompts, tap SET UP NOW, then tap the preferred option. To skip this, swipe the prompt to the left.

  15. The device is now set up and ready for use.

    Note: If the carrier Default installation prompts, wait for the installation to finish, then tap OK.

    If prompted to Experience the UX 5.0 Home screen, read the message, tap NEXT, then tap DONE.
