Show Me How

Initial Sign In and First Use
  1. On the TalkBack activation screen, to view and enable the device accessibility options, tap Accessibility settings.

    Tap Next.

  2. Tap to select a language, then tap Next.

  3. To connect to a Wi-Fi network, tap the network name, enter the password if required, and tap CONNECT.

    When finished, or to continue without connecting to a Wi-Fi network, tap Next.

    Note: If the device was reset with Device Protection enabled, a Wi-Fi connection will be required to continue and complete the Google account authentication.

  4. The Hands Free Activation process will begin automatically.

    Once the Hands Free Activation is complete, tap OK.

  5. The device will update the PRL.

    Once the update is complete, tap OK.

    The device will restart.

  6. When the device restarts, tap Next to continue.

  7. A Google account is required to access a variety of Google services or to purchase and download content from the Play Store.

    Enter the email address for your Google account and tap NEXT.

    Note: Google Device Protection is automatically enabled when a Google account is added to the device. Device Protection uses the Google account to prevent others from activating the device if it is lost or stolen.

    If the device is reset while Device Protection is enabled, you must enter the Google account credentials and accept the Google Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to set up the device.

  8. Enter your Google account Password, then tap NEXT.

  9. Review the Google Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then tap ACCEPT to continue.

  10. To restore data from a previous device backup, tap the preferred backup from Restore from this backup, tap NEXT, and follow the prompts.

    To continue without restoring a previous backup, ensure Set up as new device is selected and tap NEXT.

  11. To protect your phone's data, tap SET SCREEN LOCK NOW.

    To skip this step, tap SKIP.

    Note: You will be required to enter your Screen lock Pattern, PIN or Password prior to starting a factory reset of the device.

  12. Tap to select a sceen lock type.

  13. Enter the Pattern, PIN or Password, then tap NEXT.

    Note: The following steps will vary depending on the screen lock chosen.

  14. Re-enter the Pattern, PIN or Password to confirm, then tap OK or DONE.

  15. Select the Lock screen notification option, then tap OK.

  16. Scroll to and tap to check or uncheck the preferred Google services, then tap NEXT.

  17. Read the EULA (End-User License Agreement).

    To continue, tap to check I agree, then tap Next.

  18. Tap DONE.

  19. The device will check for Firmware updates. If an update is available, follow the prompts to download and install the update.

    Otherwise, tap OK.

  20. Tap OK once the Boost Default installation is complete.

    Note: If prompted to Allow Google to regularly check device activity, tap the preferred option.

    If Smart Contacts prompts, swipe left through the welcome messages, then tap I don't want to use this. Tap YES, DISABLE,and then tap OK.

  21. If prompted with a Connections Optimizer message, tap I Agree.

  22. The device is now set up and ready for use.
