Restore an iCloud backup
  1. Restoring an iPhone from an iCloud Backup can only be accomplished during the initial setup of the device and requires the handset be connected to a Wi-Fi network.

    Press the Home key.

  2. Tap a language option.

  3. Tap the country or region.

  4. Tap a Wi-Fi network.

    Note: If there are no Wi-Fi networks available, tap Use Cellular Connection.

  5. If prompted, enter network password, then tap Join.

  6. Tap a Location Services option.

  7. Place your finger or thumb on the home key to set up Touch ID.

    Otherwise, tap Set Up Touch ID Later.

    Note: To add Touch ID at any time, from the home screen, go to Settings, tap Touch ID & Passcode, and then tap Add a Fingerprint.

  8. Tap Continue.

  9. To create a passcode, enter a six digits.

    Note: To select a different passcode format, tap Passcode Options, then tap an option.

  10. Re-enter the passcode to confirm.

  11. Tap Restore from iCloud Backup.

    Note: Restoring an iCloud backup required a Wi-Fi connection. If prompted to connect to Wi-Fi, tap OK and follow the prompts to connect to a network.

  12. Enter the iCloudApple ID and Password, then tap Next.

    Note: Adding a Touch ID and Passcode are recommended steps to help protect the device from unauthorized access. If these were skipped earlier in the set up process, the device will prompt to create both prior to signing into the iCloud account.

    If Two-Factor Authentication was configured for this Apple ID, follow the prompts to complete the authentication process.

  13. Read the Terms and Conditions and tap Agree.

  14. Tap a backup to restore.

    Note: If prompted to Enter Old Passcode, follow the instructions.

  15. The iPhone will restore and restart.

    Press the Home key to follow the remaining set up steps.

    Note: The remaining steps will vary based on the settings established in the backup file.

  16. Enter the passcode.

  17. Tap Continue.

  18. Tap Next.

  19. To add a card to Apple Pay, using the iPhone camera, position your card within the frame displayed on the screen.

    Alternatively, enter the card number manually by tapping Enter Card Details Manually.

    Otherwise, tap Set Up Later in Wallet.

  20. Tap an option for iCloud Keychain.

    Note: If prompted, tap Continue.

  21. Tap Get Started.

  22. When prompted, tap OK.

  23. The iPhone is now restored.
