Troubleshoot charging issues on your LG Tribute 2

You may have charging issues if your LG Tribute 2

  • Doesn't charge
  • Charges slowly

Try each of these steps if your phone has charging issues.

  1. Verify that your phone, charging port, and battery contacts are not damaged.

    1. Carefully inspect your phone to be sure it's not overheating, swollen or damaged.
    2. Carefully inspect your phone's charging port and remove any debris.
    3. Remove the battery.
    4. Carefully inspect and clean the gold contacts using a cotton swab or dry soft cloth.

    Caution: If your phone is damaged, do not complete the remaining steps in this guide. Please contact Boost Customer Care.

  2. Verify that your LG Tribute 2 can power on.

    1. Turn your phone on.
  3. Verify that your charger is working properly.

    Note: You risk severe damage to your phone if the charger isn't the same voltage, amps, and plug type as your original charger. You can purchase compatible chargers on boostmobile.com.

    1. Connect your phone to your charger.
    2. Access Boost Zone.
    3. Swipe to the left to open Device Diagnostics.
      • Tap the Refresh icon if Device Diagnostics does not load.
    4. Tap Battery Status.
    5. Verify that the battery status is Charging.
  4. Verify that your LG Tribute 2 is running the most recent software.

    1. Access Boost Zone.
    2. Swipe to the left to open Device Diagnostics.
      • Tap the Refresh icon if Device Diagnostics does not load.
    3. Tap System Updates.
    4. Tap Device Software.
    5. Tap CHECK FOR UPDATE.
      • If an update is available, follow the prompts to install.
  5. Safely remove your SD card.

    1. From the home screen, tap the All Apps icon..
    2. Scroll to and tap Settings.
    3. Scroll to and tap Storage.
    4. Scroll to and tap Unmount SD card.
    5. Remove the battery cover.
    6. Remove the SD card.
    7. Replace the battery cover.
  6. Perform a soft reset.

    A soft reset restarts your phone and does not erase any of your content or data.

    1. Leave the phone powered on.
    2. Remove the battery. After 10 seconds, reinsert the battery.
    3. Turn your phone back on.
