Show Me How

Initial set up and first use
  1. Power on the device by pressing and holding the Power key.

  2. To view and enable the device accessibility options, tap Accessibility settings.

    To continue, tap NEXT.

  3. Tap to select a language, then tap NEXT.

  4. To connect to a Wi-Fi network, tap the network name, enter the password if needed, and tap CONNECT.

    To continue, or to skip connecting to a Wi-Fi network, tap NEXT.

    Note:If prompted, tap SKIP ANYWAY to continue.

    If the device was reset with Device Protection enabled, a Wi-Fi connection will be required to continue and complete the Google account authentication.

    The Hands Free Activation process will begin automatically.

    Once the Hands Free Activation is complete, tap OK.

    The device will restart.

  5. When the device restarts, tap NEXT.

  6. The device may spend a few minutes configuring itself.

    When prompted, tap one of the Got another device? options, then tap NEXT.

    Note: If copying data from another device, follow the prompts to finish transferring the content.

    If the device is reset while Device Protection is enabled, you will be prompted to enter the Google account credentials and accept the Google Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to set up the device.

  7. A Google account is required to access a variety of Google services or to purchase and download content from the Play Store.

    Enter the email address for your Google account and tap NEXT.

    Note: Google Device Protection is automatically enabled when a Google account is added to the device. Device Protection uses the Google account to prevent others from activating the device if it is lost or stolen.

  8. Enter your Google account Password, then tap NEXT.

  9. Review the Google Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then tap ACCEPT to continue.

  10. Tap to set the Google services options as preferred, then tap NEXT.

  11. To restore data from a previous device backup, tap the preferred backup from the device list, then follow the prompts.

    To continue without restoring a previous backup, scroll to and tap Don't restore.

  12. To set a screen lock and protect your phone's data, ensure that Protect this device is selected, then tap NEXT.

    Note: To skip this, tap to uncheck Protect this device, tap NEXT, then tap SKIP ANYWAY.

  13. Tap to select a screen lock option.

    Note: The specific steps required to set a screen lock will vary depending on the screen lock chosen.

  14. Follow the prompts to set the screen lock.

    Note: These steps will vary depending on the selected screen lock type.

  15. Tap the preferred Lock screen notifications option, then tap OK.

  16. Read the EULA.

    To continue, tap to check I agree, then tap DONE.

  17. Tap DONE.

  18. The device will check for Firmware updates. If an update is available, follow the prompts to download and install the update.

    Otherwise, tap OK.

  19. The device is now set up and ready for use.

    Note: If an Experience the UX 5.0 Home screen prompt appears, swipe through the screens and tap DONE.

    If an ID Pack prompt appears, wait for the installation, then tap OK.
