Activate the Device via iTunes
  1. To turn the phone on, press and hold the Power key.
  2. Press the Home key.
  3. Tap a language.
  4. Tap the country or region.
  5. Connect to iTunes.

    Note: If Use Cellular Connection is displayed, the device can be activated using the cellular network.

    If prompted to continue without Wi-Fi, tap an option.

  6. Connect the iPhone to the computer using the supplied USB cable.
  7. Once the iPhone is connected, the iTunes application will open automatically.

    The first time the iPhone is connected to iTunes, a welcome screen is displayed. Click Continue.

    If this is not the first time connecting to iTunes, click the a setup option, then click Continue.

  8. Click the Get Started button.
  9. If needed, adjust the sync options as needed, then click Sync.

    A backup will be created in iTunes automatically. Once the initial backup is complete, unplug the iPhone from the computer.

  10. The activation is complete, unplug the USB cable and continue the initial setup on the iPhone.
  11. Tap an option for Location Services.
  12. Place your finger or thumb on the home key to set up Touch ID.

    Otherwise, tap Set Up Touch ID Later.

    Note: To add Touch ID at any time, from the home screen, go to Settings, tap Touch ID & Passcode, and then tap Add a Fingerprint.

  13. Tap Don't Use.
  14. To create a passcode, enter a six digit passcode.

    Note: To select a different format for the passcode, tap Passcode Options, then tap an option.

  15. Re-enter the passcode to confirm.
  16. Tap an option for Apps & Data.
  17. Enter the email address that is associated with your Apple ID, then enter the Password.

    Tap Next.

    Note: To add or set up an Apple ID later, from the home screen, tap Settings, then tap iCloud and enter your Apple ID credentials. To set up a new Apple ID, tap Create a new Apple ID and follow the prompts.

  18. Two-Factor Authentication is a security method used by Apple to verify who is accessing your account.

    If Two-Factor Authentication was configured on a previous device, follow the prompts to continue. Otherwise, tap an option for Apple ID Security.

    To skip this step, tap Continue.

    Note: The Two-Factor Authentication code will be required every time your Apple ID is entered on a new device. The verification code will be displayed automatically on all of your trusted devices, or it will be sent to a trusted phone number.

  19. Read the Terms and Conditions, then tap Agree.
  20. Tap Continue.
  21. To add a card to Apple Pay, using your phone camera, position your card within the frame displayed on the screen.

    Alternatively, enter the card number manually by tapping Enter Card Details Manually.

    Otherwise, tap Set Up Later in Wallet.

  22. Tap an option for iCloud Keychain.

    Note: If prompted, tap Continue.

  23. Tap an option for Siri, Apple's virtual assistant.
  24. If the option to Continue was selected in the previous step, follow the prompts to teach Siri to respond to your voice.

    Note: To skip the training process, tap Set Up "Hey Siri" Later.

  25. Tap Done.

  26. Review the message for Diagnostics, then tap an option.
  27. Tap an option for App Analytics.
  28. To change the vibration setting for the Home key, tap Get Started

    Note: To skip this step, tap Customize Later in Settings. To change the setting at a later time, from the home screen, tap Settings, tap General, and then tap Home Button.

  29. To set the vibration setting for the Home key, tap a number, and then press the Home key to test the setting.

    Once the vibration option is set, tap Done.

  30. Tap Choose a View for Display Zoom.

    • STANDARD is the normal display setting, and fits more on the screen at once.
    • ZOOMED shows larger text, buttons, and controls.
  31. Tap a display option, then tap Next.

  32. Tap Get Started.
  33. The phone is now ready for use.
